2028 Genesis GV90 review: Luxury Electric Flagship
Genesis has revealed its new flagship, the 2028 GV90. This full-size luxury electric SUV aims at high-end rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and Bentley Bentayga. It is one of the first of 22 new Genesis products planned before 2030.
Two Versions, Two Door Styles
The standard 2028 GV90 uses conventional front-hinged rear doors. It will offer four-, five-, six-, and seven-seat layouts.
The top GV90 Neolun and First Edition use Rolls-Royce-style coach doors. These rear-hinged doors open without needing the front doors open first. A built-in roll cage and special hinges make the pillar-less opening possible. The Neolun First Edition can be specified as a four-seat Executive Suite.
Swivelling front seats will come to Canada. When parked, the front seats can rotate 180 degrees to create a lounge-like cabin.
Power, Range, and Charging
The GV90 uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Combined output is 657 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. That makes it the most powerful Genesis EV so far.
A 123.5 kWh battery delivers a claimed 500 km of range in the seven-seat model. On a 350 kW fast charger, the battery can go from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes.
Electronic limited-slip differentials send power where it is needed. Multi-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering (up to five degrees) help the large SUV feel more agile.
Cabin and Technology
The cabin uses high-end materials, including stone accents. A partition behind the rear seats on the four-seat version reduces noise from the cargo area.
The standout feature is the Cinematic Display. During driving it shows a 23.6-inch screen. When parked, the screen rises to reveal a 24.6-inch display for movies and streaming. An optional 25-inch head-up display works with it. A 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system is also available.
Genesis says the GV90 will include 12 airbags, including a world-first roof airbag designed to protect occupants in a rollover.
Size and Canadian Timing
The GV90 measures 5,285 mm long with a 3,245 mm wheelbase. Optional 24-inch wheels are available.
