2026 GMC Terrain AT4 Canada: Review and Price
The 2026 GMC Terrain AT4 is GMC’s off-road look in a compact crossover. It starts at $46,699 in Canada, including the $2,300 destination charge. A loaded tester reached $49,944. The Elevation FWD starts at $38,499 with destination. The Denali is $52,399 with destination.
AWD is standard on the AT4. It is optional on the base Elevation. GMC is dropping the FWD Elevation for 2027, so AWD becomes the default path.

What the 2026 GMC Terrain AT4 actually is
Under the flat hood sits a 1.5-litre turbo four. It makes 175 horsepower. AWD models get 203 lb-ft of torque. FWD models get 184 lb-ft. That is enough for a merge if you plan the pass. It is not quick when the cabin is full.
The AT4 rides on 17-inch wheels with General Grabber all-terrain tires. Red tow hooks finish the look. Towing with the package is about 1,600 lb. Cargo space is 844 litres with the seats up and 1,798 litres folded. A nearly full-size spare sits under the floor. The curb weight is about 1,680 kg.
Inside you get an 11-inch gauge cluster and a 15-inch Google Built-In screen. Maps and apps work well. Google’s connected features are not free forever. Climate toggles look tough, but some touch icons are small.
How it drives
The tires help on gravel. On pavement they buzz at low speed and get loud on the highway. Fuel use is about 4.5 percent worse than an Elevation AWD. Official figures for the AT4 sit near 9.9 L/100 km in the city and 8.9 on the highway.
Forward vision is the other miss. The hood juts out. The pillars are thick. The ride is softer than a truck, but it rolls more than a car-like CR-V.
Rivals with the same idea include the Honda CR-V Trailsport and the Toyota RAV4 Woodland. The AT4 costs about $8,200 more than a Terrain Elevation. Most of that buys the look and the tires.
Who should buy it
Buy the 2026 GMC Terrain AT4 if you want a compact SUV that looks trail-ready and you mostly drive pavement with the odd gravel road. Skip it if you want quiet highway miles or strong passing power. The Elevation AWD is the smarter daily driver.
This is a gas crossover, not an EV. If you are cross-shopping electric SUVs, the rebate math is different.

Would you pay the AT4 premium for the tires, or keep the Elevation and add winter rubber?
