Jeep to Launch $25000 Affordable Electric Vehicle
During its Investor Day conference, Jeep revealed plans to introduce a reasonably priced electric car with a starting price of about $25,000 to the US market. It will go by the name Renegade and launch no later than 2027.
Their strategy to cut costs is to make the new Jeep smaller; it will be quite small. It is anticipated that the electric Citroen e-C3, which is around 4 meters long, would serve as the model for its development. It has an electric engine with 113 horsepower and a range of up to 320 kilometers on a single charge.
Another version claims that a tiny Jeep will be built on the current Avenger crossover, which is mostly sold in the USA and is thought to be the brand’s most diminutive vehicle. The brand will reintroduce the moniker Renegade to its range along with the new electric vehicle. At the end of last year, Jeep made the announcement that it was discontinuing its crossover in North America.
Since many people cannot afford the present pricing of EVs, there is considerable pressure to bring them to the U.S. market at an accessible price. In this regard, Detroit’s Big Three see the success of Chinese automakers, who have already found success in their home market as well as in adjacent markets like Mexico.
There are more new models in the works besides Renegade. By 2027, there will be a new generation of Jeep Compass. The Wagoneer S revelation revealed the nameless midsize SUV that will be joining both of these vehicles. It hasn’t been given a name, but it will probably be the new Cherokee or a successor model that goes by a different name. Along the way, the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Gladiator, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer will get refreshments. Additionally, there will be six fully electric vehicles, a range-extended model, and five PHEV variations in the portfolio by 2027. Naturally, some of them will be variations of the same vehicle, like the previously stated Renegade EV, the Wagoneer 4xe range-extender, and the Wrangler 4xe PHEV.
