JAC to Introduce the Hunter EV AWD Pickup Truck in April

This April, JAC will present the all-electric HunterEV pickup truck (Hantu in China) at the Beijing International Auto Show. According to Car News China, when developing this model, the manufacturer used the experience gained during the contract assembly of Nio brand electric cars. One of the advantages of the new product on the domestic market should be the presence of dual-motor all-wheel drive

The JAC Hunter EV was designed from the ground up as a workhorse for buyers who prioritize everyday practicality over luxury. Judging by the first published images, the production version will differ from the prototype shown last year simultaneously with the presentation of the restyled Hunters with internal combustion engines, which represent a further evolution of the JAC T6/Sollers ST 6 familiar to Russians. In particular, a blank panel has appeared in place of the radiator grille, the lighting technology was redesigned.

The dimensions of the JAC Hunter EV are 5.62 x 1.965 x 1.92 meters, the length of the cargo platform is 1.81 meters, and the ground clearance is 205 mm. The equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, which is rare for Chinese utilitarian pickups.

The front wheels are driven by a 95-hp electric motor. and 176 Nm; the rear one develops 218 hp. and 342 Nm. According to these parameters, the future product model is also slightly superior to last year’s prototype. A lithium-ion phosphate battery with a capacity of 88.02 kilowatt-hours should be enough for 500 kilometers in the CLTC cycle. At the same time, potential buyers from the northern regions of China have already expressed, according to local media, doubt that the Hunter EV will be able to provide such mileage at full load or in low-temperature conditions such as weather in Canada.
