Porsche Macan EV Officially Released

Porsche has declassified the second generation of the Macan crossover, which will hit the market as an electric car. At the start of sales, the SUV will be offered with two powertrain options. Each of them consists of two motors: the longest-range Macan EV will travel up to 784 kilometers without recharging, and the fastest will accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. Deliveries will begin in the second half of the year; the price in the US starts at 78.8 thousand dollars, which is almost 20 thousand higher than the price of the base Macan with an internal combustion engine.

The Porsche Macan EV became Porsche’s second electric car and the first battery-powered SUV. Together with the new PPE platform and rethought appearance in the style of the Taycan and Cayenne Coupe, the crossover has slightly increased in size. And the doors of the SUV became frameless.

Its dimensions are 4784x1938x1622 millimeters in length, width and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2893 millimeters. The trunk volume ranges from 540 to 1348 liters, with another 84 liters of cargo space hidden under the front hood.

The crossover interior has become not only more spacious but also more technologically advanced. By default, the Macan EV will be equipped with a 12.6-inch curved instrument panel screen and a 10.9-inch diagonal central display; for an additional fee, another 10.9-inch one will be installed for the front passenger. In addition, there is a projection display that displays an image with a visible diagonal of 87 inches at a virtual distance of 10 meters from the electric car. The media system will be able to implement elements of virtual reality with its help.

The most affordable Macan at launch will be the Macan 4. Its engines develop 408 hp. and 650 Nm, which allows you to reach 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. The top version of the Macan Turbo already has 639 horsepower and 1,130 Nm, due to which the acceleration time to hundreds is reduced to 3.3 seconds. This is 0.1 seconds faster than the Porsche 911 GT3. Maximum speed is 220 and 260 km/h, respectively.

A 100-kilowatt lithium-ion battery is integrated into the floor panels. The Porsche Macan 4 will travel with it from 516 to 784 kilometers depending on the operating mode, the Macan Turbo – from 518 to 765 kilometers. The average rated range is 613 and 591 kilometers. The battery can be charged from 270-kilowatt stations – in this case, it will take 21 minutes to replenish the energy reserve from 10 to 80%. In addition, a 240-kilowatt charging current will be provided by a recuperation system during braking.

The Porsche Macan EV will be equipped with active aerodynamic elements and a fully controlled chassis with a rear wheel steering angle of up to 5 degrees, but it will be offered as an option. For an additional fee for the Macan 4 and as standard for the Macan Turbo, an adaptive air suspension with two-valve shock absorbers is available, which, according to the company, makes the difference between comfortable and sporty driving modes more noticeable than before. Finally, a particularly advanced thrust vectoring control system is provided.

Porsche will soon introduce another electric car: the company has begun preparations for the debut of the updated Taycan family. The model is promised to be improved in all areas, and the official premiere will take place in the spring of this year. Most likely, the Taycan will use the same technologies that are implemented on the Macan EV.
