Canada EV Sales 2026 continue to show recovery after a difficult 2025. General Motors remained the top electric vehicle seller in Canada through the first six months of the year. More than one in five new EVs registered in the country came from GM brands.

GM reported a 33.4 percent year-over-year increase in EV sales. The Chevrolet Equinox EV, Chevrolet Bolt, and Cadillac OPTIQ ranked among the top-selling electric models. Cadillac also held the leading position in the luxury EV segment with over half the market share.
The return of the more affordable Bolt helped attract new buyers. Many customers switched to GM from other brands. Affordability, range, and available incentives under the federal EVAP program supported this growth.
Meanwhile, imports of Chinese-built EVs continued under Canada’s quota system. Tesla’s Shanghai-made Model 3 took a large portion of the early quota, while other Chinese brands prepared to enter the market.
Overall, Canada EV Sales 2026 show clearer signs of stability compared to last year. More affordable models and renewed federal support are helping demand recover.
