2027 Kia EV3 Canada Review: Value and Range

The 2027 Kia EV3 Canada arrives as a practical subcompact electric crossover. It starts at $36,995 before fees and qualifies for the $5,000 federal EVAP rebate on eligible trims. After the rebate, the base model drops under $32,000 in many cases. Quebec buyers can add a further $2,000. It is on sale now across Canada.

Range, battery and power

The base Light front-wheel-drive model uses a 58.3 kWh battery and is rated for about 354 km. Most other trims get an 81.4 kWh pack. Front-wheel-drive versions with the larger battery reach up to 517 km. All-wheel-drive models sit in the mid-400 km range. The vehicle rides on Kia’s 400-volt E-GMP platform. Front-wheel drive is standard on lower trims, with dual-motor all-wheel drive available on most others.

Real-world efficiency looks strong. One early drive covered 271 km at 15.4 kWh/100 km, even with heat and seat heaters on. That projects to more than 500 km from the larger battery under similar conditions.

How it drives

Steering feels heavier than many small crossovers, which helps on the highway. The ride stays balanced and smooth. Acceleration is quick, though some torque steer appears under hard launches in front-drive models. One-pedal driving is available and holds its setting between drives. The cabin benefits from a flat floor, so rear legroom is better than the size suggests. Cargo space reaches about 740 litres behind the rear seats, with a small frunk and underfloor storage.

Features and charging

It shares design cues with the larger EV5 and EV9, including the tiger-face front. A North American Charging Standard (NACS) port is standard, so it can use Tesla Superchargers. Six trims are offered, from Light to GT. Higher trims add more equipment, but some top models lose rebate eligibility.

Who it is for

The 2027 Kia EV3 Canada suits buyers who want a compact, practical electric crossover at a lower price. It works well for city and suburban driving and handles longer trips better than many small EVs. Skip it if you need three-row seating or maximum performance.
