The Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV, which were unveiled in the USA, received identical technical specifications. An electric motor with 203 hp. (360 N•m) and a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 65 kW•h. For the small car, it is enough to go 416 km, and for the slightly larger EUV SUV, 402 km (EPA cycle). The siblings have common suspension (MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear), tire size (215/50 R17), electric power steering, and brakes. There are a lot of common specs in the interior.
Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV Interior and Features
The EUV electric car is considered the most spacious and luxurious in this family of two models. It comes with a power panoramic sunroof, heated second-row seats, and heated and ventilated front seats. And, of course, a distinctive feature is the Super Cruise autopilot, which allows you to drive in automatic mode on 320,000 kilometers of roads in the USA and Canada, detailed maps of which are stored in the system’s memory. Autopilot, using a camera on the steering column, monitors where the driver is looking and, if not at the road, then attracts the person’s attention with light and sound signals.
Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV Safety Features
Both models are equipped with a standard suite of driver assistants, including automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. Furthermore, it also includes lane keeping with departure warning and a distance indicator. Similarly, it offers pedestrian detection, IntelliBeam automatic high-beam switching, and a rearview camera.
Entertainment Features
As options, both electric cars have rear cross-traffic monitoring, an HD Surround Vision system, and adaptive cruise control. For controls, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is equipped; similarly, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless interfaces are also available. You can also add wireless charging for your smartphone on the regular Bolt. However, it is included by default in the EUV Bolt package.
Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV Charging
The Canada models have a dual-level charging adapter with a replaceable plug (standard equipment for EUV and an option for EV). It allows connection to a standard three-prong 120V outlet for Level 1 charging and a 240V outlet for Level 2 (up to 7.2 kW or, with an optional charger, up to 11 kW). So a 240-volt outlet can charge the battery in few hours. The battery from a high-speed DC column allows you to get 161 km of range in 30 minutes on the Bolt EV, and 153 km in the same time on the EUV.
Sales and Performance
Since its launch in 2017, the regular Bolt has attracted more than 100,000 buyers. The company says the hatchback has received some of the industry’s highest owner satisfaction and loyalty ratings, which means it has laid the perfect foundation for the adoption of its larger EUV sibling. Prices should also contribute to the success of the family. In particular, the base price for the restyled Bolt 2022 model year has been reduced by $5,000 compared to the pre-reform hatch to $31,995.
Price of Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV in Canada
The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV model comes in two variants. Price in Canada ranges from $40,548 to $44,048 MSRP.
The larger Bolt EUV is priced at least $33,995 USD. Both will be available in the US this summer. The Bolt EUV will be available in a special Launch Edition ($43,495 USD), which comes standard with Super Cruise, a sunroof, unique wheels, an illuminated charging port, and special Welcome Edition badges.
